RIFs for staff employees require a certain amount of time to properly complete. The university is currently giving RIFed employees two months of notice. It takes about 30 days minimum to plan and write a RIF business plan and obtain approval by the President and appropriate Vice President. Therefore, the beginning of the process for a RIF action will need to be initiated no later than three months prior to the time the employees will be removed from payroll. RIFs are coordinated and reviewed by Policy & Practice Review in Human Resources.
Please contact Policy & Practice Review at 862-3331 for questions or to begin the process for a RIF.
